Pierrepont School held its 6th annual Literacy Fair. All students in grades 4, 5 and 6 participated. Winners from each homeroom displayed their projects in the Media Center for the whole school to view. Students and staff voted for their favorites, as well as, most creative, best illustrated, and best use of material, to name a few. There will be some winning projects on display at the March Madness event on March 25th.

Chorus Concert Posters
Students in Ms. Natiello's 5th and 6th grade cycle art classes recently created posters for Pierrepont's Broadway themed spring chorus concert. For their poster illustrations, students chose from a variety of songs that the chorus will be singing, including "For Good" from the musical Wicked and "Castle on a Cloud" from the musical Les Miserables. The posters will be showcased at the chorus concert which will take place on April 4th.
Author Visit
Last week, Jerry Pallotta visited Pierrepont School. Students in all grades enjoyed his presentation, especially learning about how he created his "Who Would Win" series. All students are currently creating their own "Who Win Would" animal battles in library class and this was a great inspiration for those projects!

Literature Circle Discussions
Students in Mrs. Manocchio & Ms. Levine's 6th grade language arts classes prepared for and participated in literature circle discussions surrounding their latest class novel, The Giver by Lois Lowry. All students came to the group's discussion with specific jobs, including identifying and defining new vocabulary terms, describing and analyzing important characters, and asking "thick" questions regarding plot events.
