Welcome back to an exciting 2019-2020 school year! School opens for all students on Thursday, September 5th. Throughout the summer many teachers came to school and prepared their classrooms to make them exciting and welcoming. Road Trippin’
Students trekked across the United States to explore our nation’s national parks. In reading class students compared and contrasted different national parks. They created souvenirs for each park they visited. They made t-shirts, keychains, mugs, pennants, and stuffed animals. This week in math, students successfully planned road trips to the Jersey Shore, New York City, Canada, and Philadelphia! Together, they worked to determine their pit stops along the way, and the duration of each road trip. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the program! In addition to pre-assessing students, here is a quick peek at what the students accomplished the past few weeks. In kindergarten students recognized and learned the sounds of the letters A through N. They identified the numbers 1 - 6 and practiced counting numbers while making crafts. Summer Enrichment Academy Soars
Students soared through the second theme learning about flight. In Reading, students used their strategies to identify main idea, problem & solution, story elements, cause and effect, and non-fiction text features. Students collaborated to discuss facts learned about the Wright Brothers, Amelia Earhart, hot air ballooning and parachuting.
