This year at Back to School Night you will be hearing about our initiative to build our students’ vocabulary. This improves comprehension and writing. Each week, each grade level will have exposure to four words throughout the day. Specialists, homeroom teachers, custodians, lunch aides and office staff will infuse these words in daily conversations. We know children need to hear a word multiple times before he/she can understand the meaning in text and use the new word in writing and speaking. Welcome back to an exciting 2019-2020 school year! School opens for all students on Thursday, September 5th. Throughout the summer many teachers came to school and prepared their classrooms to make them exciting and welcoming. Our maintenance and custodial staff worked diligently to get our school organized and clean. The first day of school will certainly be a very positive event for the children. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the program! In addition to pre-assessing students, here is a quick peek at what the students accomplished the past few weeks. In kindergarten students recognized and learned the sounds of the letters A through N. They identified the numbers 1 - 6 and practiced counting numbers while making crafts. Students have been busy practicing writing their letters, numbers and most importantly, their name!
