Lincoln students had a busy week. The first graders culminated their Around the World unit by making a quilt about holidays and all students shopped for loved ones at the PTA Holiday Boutique. Mrs. Cioffi, Mrs. Monochello, and Mrs. Risoli's first and second grade classes finished their Gingerbread Man unit of study. Students used a Venn Diagram as well as other graphic organizers, to compare and contrast the different versions of the Gingerbread Man. Giving Tree
The students at Lincoln School collected items to help the community. Students collected items for an animal shelter in Lyndhurst. The shelter received animal treats, foods and toys. Some students donated pajamas and books and mittens and gloves so neighbors could be warm. The Lincoln Character Education Committee encourages students to think about those less fortunate and then come up with a way to help. Peter and the Wolf
The PTA arranged for the Pushcart Players to return to Lincoln School for the 10th year. The gymnasium turned into a theatre as students listened to the music that represented the characters in Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. Rutherford Police Department Expands LEAD Program to Grade 3
Third graders worked with staff of the Rutherford Police Department to complete the LEAD course. LEAD stands for Law Enforcement Against Drugs. Students participated in activities that promoted social and emotional learning and the decision making process. The program reinforced making healthy choices. Graduates of the LEAD program received t-shirts and certificates from Officer Ahearn and Sergeant Zeigler. Thank you to Chief Russo and the RPD for supporting this program.
