Each year, Bergen County DOE recognizes exceptional educators who make a difference in the life of a child. Ms. Alecia Scelsa is Lincoln School’s recipient of the Teacher of the Year award. Students Show Initiative
A group of third graders decided on their own to do a little spring cleaning of the Lincoln Woods. They coordinated plans, gathered materials and met to clean-up the woods. Students will have their picture taken on April 13th. Pictures will be individual only; no class picture will be taken this year. However, individual pictures will be arranged to form a “class picture.” Times were provided for remote student to get pictures taken if they wish to do so. Trait of the Month
This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Open-mindedness. We want the children to learn to be tolerant of ideas, culture, people, foods, and experiences. The students may not always agree with one another, but they can learn to listen, summarize and maybe even reflect on a different perspective. The teachers will teach open-mindedness by discussing points of view in literature, history or resolving a conflict between two students. Being Optomistic
This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Optimism. We want the children to learn to find the positive side of life. Research shows that people who are optimistic are healthier and have better coping strategies. At school we will be discussing how to find the goodness in a situation, learning that even rough times will pass, and seeing there may be a way to solve a problem.
