Rutherford High School senior and FBLA member, Cooper Tormey, under the direction of Ms. Cherryl Bott and Mrs. Judy Leonard, FBLA advisors, competed at the regional level in Advertising where he qualified to compete at the State level. Mindfulness During NJSLA Testing
During the week of NJSLA testing, students followed along with a mindfulness morning announcement. Each morning, Ms. Mahoney guided students over the intercom, having them follow along with deep breathing techniques. UMS National Junior Honor Society
UMS National Junior Honor Society students offered their time to help the Rutherford Public Library with spring cleanup. Students spent several hours working in the library courtyard preparing it for a spring makeover so that patrons can enjoy the outdoor space. LEAD Graduation
Pierrepont School 6th graders graduated from the LEAD program on April 3, 2019. LEAD, which is taught by instructors from the Rutherford Police Department, is introduced in health class and is designed to deter youth from drugs, crime, bullying, and violence. Chief Russo attended the graduation along with several RPD officers who led students through stations to mimic the impairment to senses while under the influence.
