In Sixth Grade social studies, the students have been studying The Stone Age and the accompanying cave art. They learned about the way prehistoric humans would hunt, gather, find shelter, and migrate following animals in order to survive. The students then created a writing piece that summarized a typical Stone Age occurrence, such as cooking food by the fire or spearing a wild animal. Using brown poster paper and chalk pastel crayons, they depicted that event in image form. Kindness Rocks
To celebrate the beginning of the new school year, as well as to commemorate Patriot Day which took place on September 11th, Mrs. Manocchio and Mrs. TIffner's 6th grade homerooms took part in the Kindness Rocks Project. The students discussed how small acts of kindness can have a significant positive impact on our school, community, and world. The students also talked about what it means to show good character and practice empathy towards others. Mindfulness During NJSLA Testing
During the week of NJSLA testing, students followed along with a mindfulness morning announcement. Each morning, Ms. Mahoney guided students over the intercom, having them follow along with deep breathing techniques.
