Summer Reading 2020
It's hard to believe we're already in June and we are one month closer to Summer Vacation! As always, the Rutherford Public Schools wishes everyone a fun summer -- but we hope that your fun also includes some exciting pleasure reading. Last year, we did away with the traditional summer reading program found in most schools and we launched "Just Read!" That program continues this year. There are no requirements. No posters. #RutherfordFromMyWindow – The Weekend of the Arts!
Traditionally, each school in the Rutherford Public Schools holds an art show or an "Evening of the Arts." In lieu of the building closures, this year the district art teachers have worked together to create The Rutherford Public Schools' Weekend of the Arts from June 12th-14th! Students in Grades K-8 are asked to hang one piece (or two or three or 27 pieces!) of their artwork in the windows of their home that face the street. Mr. Ersalesi, the supervisor of English and Arts for the Rutherford Public Schools, reads aloud to students each school day during virtual instruction. A good book can help transport kids (and adults) to other places and times! And sometimes a good book is just a lot of fun! RHS Announces PTA Reflections State and National Winners!
The Rutherford High School English and music departments are thrilled to announce the winners in this year's PTA Reflections contest. Each year, students in Pre-K through Grade 12 are invited to create and submit original works of art in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. This year, Rutherford High School had four state-level winners and one national winner!
